WON’T YOU COME HOME PLEASE BILBY
(Hillbilby Funk-Rock Music)
Copyright 2009 Rick Quarles
[INTRO]

[CHORUS]
Won’t you___ come home__ please Bilby ___
I don’t know where you’ve gone___
You left me here_ in the desert outback__
Just a looking for your tracks__
Won’t you___ come home__ please Bilby __
It’s lonely here all alone__
Where’d you go?__ I just don’t know__
I’m searching high and low__

Well_ it’s been a while_ since I’ve seen you running around__
Not much sign of you__ is left there on the ground___
I know it’s hard__ to live in this place_
Now you’ve disappeared__ without a trace__
You and your friends_ today_ just can’t be found___

[BRIDGE]
You may be small __ but to survive__ you’re really very tough__
This ole’ desert life_ is one that can be rough___
With a long tapered snout__ and sharp-clawed feet__
To dig down in the earth__ for insect treats__
You find what you can__ and hope that its enough__

[BREAK]
Want you come on home__ please Bilby __ Yea_ come on home___
Now come on home__ please Bilby __ Just come on home___
You been gone too long____ and they’ve done you wrong__
Just come on home__ please Bilby__ just come on home__
Yea_ take it now___
[ORGAN BREAK]

[INTRO]

[CHORUS]
Won’t you___ come home__ please Bilby ___
I really miss seeing you roam___
Things don’t look the same__ without you here__
With your long silk coat__ and two big ears__
Won’t you___ come home__ please Bilby __
It’s lonely here all alone__
We’ll make some room for you to stay__
And you can do your thing for another day__

You only came out of your burrow__ in the dark of night__
To find your prey__ digging in the moonlight__
Not any longer __ does your shadow fall__
And you don’t show up__ when I call__
With you not here__ it’s not a natural sight__

[BRIDGE]
Now_ your brothers are extinct_ your numbers threatened down to a few_______
Man’s shrunk your habitat__ brought in some predators after you__
You’re a marsupial __ just trying to live your life wild and free____
You hide in the barren desert__ under the soil where we can’t see__

[BREAK]
Want you come on home__ please Bilby __ Yea_ come on home___
Now come on home__ please Bilby __ Just come on home___
You been gone too long__ and they’ve done you wrong__
Just come on home__ please Bilby__ just come on home__
Take it home, now__
[ORGAN BREAK] and [OUT}
[TALK]
Bilbies are part of the bandicoot family__
And are only native to Australia___
There’s two species – the Greater and the Lesser__
The Lesser species hasn’t been seen for a long time and is thought to be extinct__
The Greater species is considered seriously threatened because of loss of habitat, the introduction of cats, foxes, and dingoes that prey on them, and competition for food from other animals brought to Australia__
Bilbies are strictly nocturnal animals and are omnivores that eat a variety of insects, worms, roots, seeds, and fungi__
They make their home in a series of burrows that they dig in the ground___
Protect the bilbies__
